My
Windows on Capri Series is among the first efforts on Capri to
convert
materials in works of art. I take windows, doors from
homes being renovated, lids from
gas tanks, wood ovens, wells, etc.
By giving each the opportunity to
recall its
origins,
I go further than
keeping it
alive: I give it a voice to
recount the atmosphere and surroundings of when each was
in use. |

I
make a strong attempt
to keep the material exactly as I find
it. However, depending
on its state of decay, I restore it by glueing, hammering
it together and treating it with specific, environment safe, resins. During this
phase, I study it
in all its details to choose where to create a painted
representation. Finally, in the total respect of the material, I paint a scene which
seals in time the place where I found the material and the
purpose it
served. |
